Sing for the joy of it! Free your voice and express your heart and soul.
All voices welcome.
Music is your birthright! Music is a powerful healing force that helps us connect more deeply with each other, ourselves, and the earth. Music enriches our lives in many ways, increasing our wellbeing, health and happiness.
We gather weekly to learn uplifting, contemplative songs and chants from around the world. Sessions also include circle-singing, an ancestral practice (made popular by Bobby McFerrin) of singing the music of the moment. Heidi accompanies the group with her drum and guitar.
We welcome singers of all levels (yes, even beginners!) who want to express and develop their voice in an informal, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. We learn songs by oral tradition or with lyric sheets, so there is no need to read music. Diversity is welcome, and there is an elevator if needed. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Heidi McCurdy is a Singer, Songwriter, Sound Healer and Expressive Arts Therapist. 10 years ago, she founded this choir of 20-30 people with a provincial anti-racism grant from Embrace BC. Several members have been there since the beginning! Heidi specializes in a playful and holistic approach to singing and creative self-expression.
